Providers of Continuing Education Programs

seeking pre-approval from N.C.V.M.B.

Information on pograms need to be submitted by mail to the Board office a minimum 7 days prior to the presentation. Not all continuing education programs can be approved for credit as topics must be related to the practice of veterinary medicine. Credit for continuing education is based on 1 hour (60 minutes) of lecture, wet-lab, laboratory, etc., attended. The Board will not approve attendance to exhibit halls. Computer based programs by law will only be approved for a maximum of 3 credit hours. Some educational training provided during presentations can not be preformed by anyone other than a North Carolina licensed veterinarian. The Board will not post approve continuing education programs.

The written request from Providers will need to to include an agenda or outline with presentation dates, start and stop times, speaker names, location, title & topic to be presented, and the Provider's contact name, telephone, and mailing address.

Providers are required to present each individual who has completed the program with a certificate showing the number of credit hours as approved by the N.C. Board. The Board recommends that each individual sign-in to the program, and request a copy of the sign-in list be provided by mail to the office. Approval of future programs also depends on complying with Board requirements. Failure to do could result in approval of programs to be withdrawn. Should any changes be made to the continuing education program the Board will need to have prior notification in writing of those changes.

Below is a form to help Providers with the pre-approval request for continuing education credit.
