VETERINARY TECHNICIAN STATE EXAMINATION

 

Dates of Examination:

 

March 27, 2009 Application due in Board office by January 26, 2009

May 15, 2009 Application due in Board office by March 16, 2009
July 24, 2009 Application due in Board office by May 22, 2009
September 18, 2009 Application due in Board office by July 20, 2009

 

Applications must be in the Board office by 5:00pm the day of the deadline.

 

Fee is $50.00, Make check or money order payable to the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Board (NCVMB).

 

The Veterinary Technician State Exam is a written exam on the General Statutes and Administrative Rules governing the practice of veterinary medicine in North Carolina. It contains 70 true/false and 30 multiple choice questions. A copy of the North Carolina Practice Act and Seating Pass will be mailed to each applicant approximately thirty days prior to the requested examination.

 

Completion of an application including passport photo, and copy of Social Security card for consideration as part of the North Carolina veterinary technician registration process under General Statutes of North Carolina and Administrative Code. Disclosure of information is mandated. However, failure to comply may result in the application not being processed. Application or fees are not refundable or transferable to another examination date. All credentials/documentation will need to be received in the Board office seven day before the requested examination or applicant will not be eligible for the examination. It is the applicant's responsibility to request all credentials/documentation, as well as provide current telephone numbers, address, or other information changes in writing to the Board office.

 

The Board office provides updates to the status of an applicants file by mail. These updates are sent at regular intervals until the file has been completed.

Appilcant's file must be completed 7 days prior to the examination date. If file is not complete, applicant will not be eligible for the examination date applied for.

 

 

 

The N. C. Veterinary Practice Act is available for downloading or review online from home page

or for $3.00 from the Board office.

 

 

 

Follow directions on the application. In addition, note the following:

 

1.      Applicant is required to have graduated before the date of examination being requested. This means that all course work has been completed and the degree awarded.

2.      Must be a graduate from an A.V.M.A. accredited School/College Veterinary Technician Program.

3.      One passport photo taken within six months and submitted with application. No digital or personal pictures.

4.      Submitted with application copy of Social Security Card . Social Security disclosure is mandated by N.C.G.S. 110-142, et. seq.

5.      Have on file with Board office degree conferred transcript. Sent directly from School/College.

6.      If name shown on supporting documents is different from that shown on your application, submit proof of legal name change by copy of your marriage license, divorce decree, affidavit or court order.

7.      Have on file with Board office registration verification from all State(s) you had or currently hold a Registration in. Sent directly from those States.

 

 

Information Regarding ADA Accommodations

 

Requesting special accommodations for an examination must contact the Board office in writing at time of application. Include all information concerning the disabilities and state what accommodations are being requested. The applicant is responsible for this written submission by the application deadline.

How diagnosed. Describe.

Name of Professional/Doctor who is providing care.

Letter from Professional/Doctor that diagnosed the disability stating how the disability was diagnosed, what accommodations are being requested and how it relates to the disabilities, given that the examination is largely multiple choice and true/false questions.

What accommodations have been received relating to high school and college. Describe.

What accommodations were received, if any for the college admission test? Describe

How is the commendation for accommodations related to the disabilities given that the exam is largely multiple choice and true/false.

 

 

American Association Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) handles the transfer of Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) scores. Scores will need to be sent directly to the Board office from AAVSB.
